Watch the Video: Choosing a Topic For Your Blog
The most important part of creating a profitable blog is to choose your topic or subject. This should be something that interests you or that you are already an expert in. If you have interest in the topic it will make the job of maintaining your blog much more interesting.
Searching For Your Topic-
Go To Barnes and Noble or any book store and wander around for an afternoon. When I did this last night I found about 25 topics that I thought would make excellent topics, that would interest me.
If you don't live near a book store you can use Amazon.com or online directories to stimulate ideas:
http://directory.google.com
http://www.dmoz.org
http://amazon.com
In order for you blog to be profitable you need to choose a topic that others are interested in as well. The more books and sites that are available on the topic, the more likely the topic is to have a large following. Another way to make sure there is demand for your topic is to go type it into http://google.com and see how many ads appear on the right side of the page. If there is only a couple you might want to find a better topic, but if many ads are displayed then you know your topic will be profitable.
